New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark will open the Commonwealth Local Government Conference 2007 at a special opening ceremony on 26 March 2007.
Prime Minister Clark will also be a keynote speakers at the opening session of the conference on Tuesday 27 March at the Aotea Centre in Auckland, New Zealand.
Prime Minister Clark has given her backing for the conference and the theme of Delivering Development through Local Leadership.
Speaking at the New Local Government New Zealand Conference in Wellington in July 2006, she said:
“In March 2007, New Zealand will host the fourth Commonwealth Local Government Conference. The conference will attract delegates from up to 53 Commonwealth countries across Asia, the Pacific, the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe.
“The opportunity to share knowledge and experiences is always valuable and I am sure that Local Government New Zealand will make the most of its exposure on the international stage.” |
